I couldn’t do it :') I failed to post 2 entries in a month :') I TRIED! But, my laptop was just not cooperating (plus school).

The original plan was to post before the end of October because I wanted to put up another blog about a different book yesterday (which, obviously, I failed to do as well) to celebrate halloween (it's a thriller), but I couldn't put this blog up as scheduled nor did I finish the book because schooool :'D

So, here we are hehehe~

But anyway, today we have my new favorite book :')

How To Make Friends With The Dark by Kathleen Glasgow

Now, first of all, don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE ATBP! (it was my all time fave back then) It still has its place in my heart and I really need to reread it soon and maybe blog about it! But this book? OMG THIS BOOK!!!

It’s a masterpiece, okay? It’s so freaking good and EVERYONE (teenagers, especially) NEEDS TO READ IT!! I swear! Even if you’re not an avid reader! It’s so *so* good and you get SO many things from it.

Where do I even begin!? I mean, I’ve already begun, yes. But there’s so much to say aahh!!

Okay, first of all, quick story time because I love to share how I got my books. So! A friend of mine and I went to this huge book sale event called Big Bad Wolf. Went there, got books, then went to a mall to get dinner with my family. We casually passed by National Bookstore AND THEY WERE HAVING A SALE TOO! So we were like, yolo!!!

We in and looked through books. After a few minutes, she already found one that she wanted, but I, on the other hand, couldn’t choose! We were about to give up and just pay for hers—when my eyes traveled to the bottom of this self by the entrance of the store and BOOM! Last (?) copy of HTMFWTD! Sitting there, calling my name. It was destiny.

And for those who know when BBW was, then you know that this book has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time now! XD

Anyway, what is with this book and why do I love it so much?

Well...

This book is about grief. Grace, our main character who goes by the nickname Tiger, loses her mom at a very young age (16) and it’s basically a story of how life after her loss is.

The characters. Amazing name choices, minor detail but I love! The depth of each one, we love to see it my dude. They’re very believable, like you’re bound to know someone in real life that’s very similar to the characters of this book—and if you know, then you know I’M A SUCKER FOR THOSE TYPES OF CHARACTERS! (can you tell I’m so hyped right now? hahaha)

When I got into the book, I literally went from laughing my butt off to balling my eyes out.

It’s what it does to you. You get into it with rainbows and sparkles and fluffiness and teenagers and all that fun stuff and then it just slaps you in the face and grabs your heart out and steps on—okay that went a little too graphic BUT THE POINT IS it makes you so *so* happy when you start reading it and then it just suddenly goes downhill.

Almost every two chapters of this book is basically Tiger’s everyday life (again, almost) before and after her mom dies and it focuses on how she is grieving (as mentioned). But, the thing is, so many things happen at the same time. Like SO MANY.

Everything is just thrown at Tiger all at once and you see it happening to her because as I said, almost every two chapters is like equivalent to a single day. But, with that being said, it’s still not plot-driven TO ME *because* it’s basically like a flow of her life, a flow that just goes to these directions that are dependent on Tiger herself and it doesn’t seem like it’s predetermined or like you wouldn’t be able to say, oh well, it’s a book after all so of course this was bound to happen. It’s like what the events are are actually results to Tiger’s choices, you get what I’m trying to say? Like it (the story/plot) just flows naturally based ON the character herself.

And maybe it’s just because I’m nosy, but I seriously wanted to see every step of the way—EVERY.

I must say, since school started, it’s been pretty hectic and I’ve been a little (huh, a little?) off my game of series and books, but when I started reading this book, I was just so determined to finish it and at the same time not rush it because I wanted to indulge in every beautiful word on the pages of this book.

How To Make Friends With The Dark - ♾ and beyond

(no jk! do well in school kids! bahaha)

I seriously love this book so much and it’s very close to my heart. It made me feel so many things and I know I literally say that all the time—BUT FOR REAL! It made me ask questions to myself and to life, in general, and boy, I can’t even decide if those times felt good because honestly, they were kinda scary (the questions and the questioning lol).

Anyway, I know I’ve been pretty vague about what else happened in the book and I didn’t even mention the other characters in it and that’s because it’s a book you’d wanna read with very little to no knowledge about.

That kind of goes to all books, but this one, specifically, to me, is important to know nothing about because it’s a long journey (kind of literally because it’s a pretty lengthy book haha) and I wouldn’t wanna ruin the stops you’ll have take until you get to your destination ;D (that was kinda cheesy but whatevs).

Again, I seriously really very highly recommend (I don’t even know if I’m using those words right lol) this book to everyone out there. If you stopped reading books or you’re in a reading slump, get into this one. Or, maybe you don’t read books at all and you wanna try one, try this one. OR, you don’t want to try reading a book and you just stumbled upon my blog, do yourself a favor and read the book.

Don’t forget to always have a box of tissues by you when you’re reading!

Aight, that’s all for now! this one’s obviously ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, since it’s my new fave after all ^.^

‘Till next time!

Oh and, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
